The reticent actress merely states that relationships are generally difficult.

Kajol is known to keep her private matters, well, private. Not long ago, Karan Johar had written in his book An Unsuitable Boy how he’s no longer friends with the actress. Kajol recently spoke to newspaper The Indian Express about her reaction to the revelations made in Johar’s book.

"I think relationships are generally difficult, nothing to do with Bollywood," Kajol said, on the sidelines of a media event. When asked specifically on the soured friendship with Johar, Kajol chided, "I wouldn’t like to comment anything on what happened with Karan (Johar)."

The Johar-Kajol friendship has always been in focus ever since the actress married Ajay Devgn, who was never known to be friends with the filmmaker.

Last year, Devgn’s film Shivaay had competed with Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil during Diwali. Things got nasty when an audio conversation between controversial critic and actor Kamaal Rashid Khan and Kumar Mangat (Devgn’s business partner) became public. In the audio clip, Khan claimed that he had received Rs25 lakh from Johar to malign Devgn’s Shivaay.

Devgn had tweeted about this conversation urging for an inquiry into the matter. Kajol had replied to Devgn’s tweet with just a mere ‘Shocked’, alluding that she believed the audio clip to be true.

Johar was taken aback by Kajol’s comments and that proved to be the last nail in the coffin for this friendship.

"I don’t have a relationship with Kajol anymore. We had a fallout. Something happened that disturbed me deeply which I will not talk about because it is something that I like to protect and I feel it would be not be fair to her or to me. After and two-and-a-half decades, Kajol and I don’t talk at all,” Johar wrote in his book.

The cold war between Johar and the Devgns is likely to continue as the filmmaker has planned a film on the Battle of Saragarhi, a plot which Devgn had latched onto before for his Sons of Sardaar: Battle of Saragarhi. Johar is co-producing his film with Devgn’s pal Salman Khan, with Akshay Kumar playing the lead.
