When the veteran actor shared a picture of himself and Abhishek Bachchan to congratulate India's space agency, he would not have imagined the blowback to come.
Keyur Seta
It was a proud moment for India today. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) created history by sending 104 satellites on a single rocket from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. This is a new world record. The previous record was held by Russia which had sent 37 satellites up in one go.
The last time ISRO had launched 23 satellites in one go in June 2015.
As soon as the news was announced, social media was flooded with congratulatory posts from every nook and corner of India. Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan too joined in to wish ISRO on its record-breaking achievement.
He tweeted, “T 2435 – CONGRATULATIONS .. !!! ISRO for the launch of 103 satellites from one PSLV .. a world record ! HOPE ONE DAY WE LAND ON MOON !”
However, his celebratory tweet backfired, for a couple of reasons. He posted the message with a funny picture of himself and son Abhishek Bachchan. This was enough for his huge number of followers to ignore the achievement part of the tweet.
The actor and his son have since been getting trolled for the tweet. Some also corrected him on the number of satellites launched. Take a look at Bachchan's tweet and some of the response that followed:
