Ayan Mukherjee's superhero film, Dragon, just got a major boost. Amitabh Bachchan has now joined the cast of the Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer. According to news agency PTI, Bachchan will be seen playing a pivotal role in the film.

Tentatively titled Dragon, Mukherjee's film will see Ranbir play a superhero who uses fire to fight evil. According to the PTI report, Bachchan is speculated to start filming for Dragon later this year. The reported quoted sources as saying, "He has given his nod for the film. It's a full-fledged role and not a guest appearance. It's an important role. He will begin shoot this year itself."

Although the veteran Bachchan has played co-star to Ranbir's father, Rishi Kapoor, in several films like Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), Kabhie Kabhi (1976), and Naseeb (1981), this will be his first collaboration with Ranbir.

Dragon will be Ranbir's third film with Mukherjee after Wake Up Sid (2009) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013). Currently, Ranbir is shooting for Rajkumar Hirani's Sanjay Dutt biopic, and will also be seen in Anurag Basu's soon-to-release, Jagga Jasoos (2017).

Bachchan, too, has Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar 3 on his hands, before he starts shooting for Thugs of Hindostan alongside Aamir Khan.
