Quickie poster features an unrecognisable Darsheel Safary

Actor Darsheel Safary moved us to tears with his debut film Taare Zameen Par, nearly ten years ago. A toothy 11-year-old with an enormous smile, Safary’s performance went to win the Filmfare Critics’ Award for Best Actor.

After his breakthrough film, the young actor has focused on his studies and only acted in a handful of films and chosen a few theatre roles. We last saw him on the big screen in Deepa Mehta’s adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children (2012) as the younger version of the lead character, Saleem Sinai.

He has appeared in a few reality and television shows since then but has largely stayed away from the limelight. With the first poster of director Pradip Atluri’s first film, Quickie, it looks like the 21-year-old is ready for his close-up as an adult. Sporting a goatee, Darsheel glowers back in the one sheet that contains the tagline, ‘No buffering, no suffering”.

So far, no other actors have been announced in this teenage love story. Produced by Tony D’Souza, Amul Vikas Mohan and Nitin Upadhyaya, Quickie does not have a release date as yet.
