Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 had a positive first weekend. The Subhash Kapoor-directed film earned Rs47.25 crore in its first weekend (Rs12 crore, Rs16.25 crore and Rs19 crore). This turned out to be Kumar's fourth highest collection ever after Housefull 3 (2016), Rustom (2016) and Brothers (2015).
But its real test was on its first Monday (yesterday) since the release. The film has fared well on the day by earning Rs6.75 crore, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. This takes it overall total o Rs54 crore so far.
However, the collections could have been better. According to trade experts, the reason for this is that the film has been appreciated more only in the north India region. But as this part of the country contributes to the collections in a big way, the film does stand a good chance. The plus for Jolly LLB 2 is that films releasing this week (Running Shaadi, The Ghazi Attack and Irada) don't have a great buzz among moviegoers.
Jolly LLB 2 is made at a budget of Rs54crore, but this does not include Kumar's fees. The actor will have a share in the profit. Hence, it is imperative for the film to reach the Rs100-crore figure.
