Actors have always played an active part in Tamil Nadu politics. He's a God down in Tamil Nadu and after years of temptation to join politics, buzz is that the superstar is finally contemplating on entering politics.
According to India Today Television, Rajini has been advised by RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) ideologue S Gurumurthy to float his own party. Though state elections in Tamil Nadu are far away, the Bhartiya Janata Party is said to be keen on further disrupting the political crisis in the state by floating Rajinikanth as a future chief ministerial candidate.
The state has fallen into political crisis following the death of AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazham) chief Jayalalithaa. O Panneerselvam was made the Chief Minister for the third time on 6 December, only for him to resign following the power struggle between him and Jayalithaa’s close aide and party general secretary VK Sasikala.
While Rajinkanth is said to be mulling on the idea of joining politics, his good friend and legend Amitabh Bachchan is said to have advised him against it, according to multiple reports in the media. This after Bachchan himself had a tough time in politics when he contested and won in Uttar Pradesh on a Congress ticket. Bachchan left politics after his name was dragged in the Bofors case, wherein the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was also an accused.
Bachchan and Rajinikanth have always been close friends having worked together in a few films, most notably Hum (1991) and Andha Kanoon (1983).
