Shiamak Davar is among the most famous names in India when it comes to choreography. The actor has been into the profession for over three decades. Now, for the first time ever, he will be choreographing for a Marathi film.
Fashion designer Vikram Phadnis, who turns director with Hrudayantar, has roped in Davar for a song in the film. It will feature the choreographer with a group of professional dancers. The song was recently shot in Mumbai.
Excited to have Davar on board, Phadnis said, “It’s a complete honour that Shiamak is choreographing a song in my film. I’ve known him for over 25 years and this relationship has extended for him being part of my film. He plays Shiamak Davar in the film and we recently shot a song and it simply turned out to be magical because he just created a drama on stage.”
Davar said that the song was a challenge which he took up because of his old friendship with Phadnis. “When Vikram approached me for the film, I immediately agreed to do it. In my career of 30 years I have never choreographed a song for any Marathi film. I have always been associated with Bollywood. Vikram is a dear friend and just for him I took this up as a challenge and wanted to explore it."
The comfort factor also worked for him. “Since Vikram gives a choreographer all the space, it becomes easier for an artist to showcase his art. I am really looking forward to Hrudayantar,” he added.
Produced by Vikram Phadnis Productions and Young Berry Entertainment, Hrudayantar stars Subodh Bhave and Mukta Barve in lead roles. The second schedule of the film was recently wrapped up in Mumbai.
