Relations between India and Pakistan soured last year after the Uri attack that killed a number of Indian soldiers. Following this, the tense atmosphere made Pakistani actors working in India, and vice versa, a taboo of sorts thanks to some political parties. Things haven't gone back to how they were few years back yet.
Irrfan Khan, however, is ready to take the plunge. During an interview with the Pakistani newspaper, The Express Tribune, the actor said that he would love to work in films in Pakistan.
“I would love to work in Pakistan. I was offered a character in Bol. But I couldn’t identify with that character. I didn’t like that space as an artist, therefore it didn’t work out,” he said.
But that's not all. When asked whether he sees any chance of cross-border tensions easing out between both the countries, he said, “They won’t. Because it serves the politicians. They would rather keep the focus on each other and publicise that things are really bad.”
Khan has already starred in a Bangladeshi film Doob, which was released in India in October this year. But the film is banned in Bangladesh.
