The Race franchise is the brainchild of the veteran director duo Abbas-Mustan. But the third film in the series will be directed by Remo D’Souza, who is known for films like ABCD (2013) and ABCD 2 (2015).

D’Souza has revealed that Race 3 (2018) is different from the first two films – Race (2008) and Race 2 (2013). “Abbas-Mustan are super good directors, and I have always looked up to their films. They are the master of the thriller space. I am not exactly getting into their shoes as Race 3 is little different from the earlier ones, but I am happy I got to direct it and I hope I make them proud,” he said while talking to a news agency.

Salman Khan

The film also has a whole new star cast lead by Salman Khan, who has entered the action franchise with the latest instalment. The earlier films had Saif Ali Khan playing the lead. D’Souza is sure that the Sultan (2016) actor’s presence will help the franchise. “If a superstar or a big star is coming into a franchise, it always takes the franchise up. Of course, Salman Khan joining Race 3, it is definitely heading up,” he added.

Bobby Deol is also a part of the cast. When it was pointed out to D’Souza that he has had a series of flops since a number of years, he reacted, “You can't compare an actor's work to the box office results of his previous films. He will be seen in a new avatar in this film. We are hoping people will like him.”

Race 3 is all set to release during Eid on 25 June 2018.
