Actor Arjun Kapoor took to Twitter yesterday to shoot down a story published by the newspaper, The Times Of India, that he was assaulted by a drunk man on the sets of Dibakar Banerjee’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar.

Kapoor wrote, “How come I have no clue about this happening? The crowd here has been peaceful. There might have been a disturbance off camera but the local force has never let it reach till me. My entire family was in panic this morning so using words like assault isn’t cool just for effect.”

The actor explained that the report caused his “entire family” to panic about his well-being.

The Times Of India’s report, which was picked up by other media outlets, stated that a driver, Kamal Kumar, tried to meet Kapoor in his vanity van and wanted to shake his hand. When Kapoor did so, the report claimed that, “Kumar allegedly tried to twist his hand and manhandled him. Police and other security personnel rushed to the spot and arrested Kumar and booked him for attempt to assault.”

Furthermore, Kapoor said in a second tweet, “Nobody from @TOIIndiaNews got in touch with my PR team or me to get clarity before carrying an untrue front page article about me being assaulted. Rather unfortunate & avoidable. Hope this doesn’t happen in the future cause it got my family distressed and it’s not appreciated.”

On 3 December, the actor headed north with the crew of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar with co-star Parineeti Chopra for the last schedule of the film.
