Priyanka Chopra reclaims throne as Sexiest Asian Woman of 2017 from Deepika Padukone

Actress Priyanka Chopra's annus mirabilis ensured that she reclaimed her top spot in the list of Sexiest Asian women by the British newspaper, Eastern Eye. The Quantico star pipped previous winner, actress Deepika Padukone to the top spot, in a list of 50 female celebrities from across the continent compiled by the London-based weekly.

This is the 5th time Chopra has topped the list. Thanking the publication, the actress said, "I cannot actually take credit for this at all. Full credit should be given to my genetics and your optics." She added, "I feel grateful and am humbled. Consistency is key."

2017 marks a fantastic run for Chopra who made her Hollywood debut with the film Baywatch. The publication noted that the actress had enjoyed a 'dream year'. It said of Chopra's rise as an international star in America that 'we are now expecting America to buy a big diamond ring, get down on one knee and propose to her'.

The actress has caught the attention of the international media with her stylish appearances on the red carpet during the Emmys, Oscars and Grammys. She even won a People's Choice Award for her performance in the hit television show, Quantico.

The publication's editor and founder of the '50 Sexiest Asian Women' list, Asjad Nazir described the actress' 'humility & being a global symbol for girl power' as her greatest strengths.

While Chopra ranked at the top, television actress Nia Sharma made it a surprising second. Previous year's winner Padukone found herself on the third spot, with another popular name from Hindi cinema, Alia Bhatt, on fourth.

Shah Rukh Khan's Raees co-star, Mahira Khan, was named in the top 5, while another Indian television actress, Drashti Dhami, followed her in the top 10.

The top 10 of the list does see a number of high profile absentees, though Katrina Kaif (7) and Shraddha Kapoor (8) do make the grade.

The list of 50 also includes Sridevi listed at the 49th spot.

The actress is currently shooting for the third season of her television series, Quantico, and will also begin the production of her show based on the life of Madhuri Dixit soon. Chopra will also feature in two more Hollywood films, A Kid Like Jake and Isn't It Romantic?.
