The much awaited trailer of Kaalakaandi is out. The sad thing is that Saif Ali Khan’s character in the film is dying, having been diagnosed with stomach cancer. However, the man is given a licence to thrill by the doctor. Do as you please, the doc advises. And Khan’s character sets off to do just that.
The trailer is hard to describe. It is crazy and has sex, drugs, guns, gals, and even ladyboys. The nearly 150-second-long trailer is clearly not for the sanskaari Babuji. But then again even the most cultured person would want to break free if s/he has only a few days left to live.
It is a break from monotony for Saif Ali Khan, too, who has never been seen in such a footloose avatar. Who would have imagined Khan saying on camera, “I’m going to jack off till my dick falls off!”? He appears to be anything but a nawab in this film.
Looking at the trailer, it is natural for Kaalakaandi to be compared with Delhi Belly (2011). After all, the writer of that film helms this one. Verma comes across as a liberated writer who cares two hoots for morality. All credit to him for having the guts to tell urban tales in which his characters are independent, unabashed, lusty and free-spirited.
Both Delhi Belly and Kaalakaandi have a common villain in Vijay Raaz. He is joined here by another fine artiste, Deepak Dobriyal. Apart from Khan, Kaalakaandi has an ensemble cast comprising the likes of Sobhita Dhulipala, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Akshay Oberoi.
The film promises plenty of fun, sex, and guts. Above all, it appears to be one hell of a rollercoaster ride. Set in Bombay, the film could also appeal to the smaller towns. Just leave your inhibitions behind and get set for some Kaalakaandi.
Produced by Cinestaan Film Company (a sister company of Cinestaan Digital Private Limited, which runs this website) and Flying Unicorn Entertainment, Kaalakaandi will be released on 12 January 2018.
