Uday Shankar, chairman and CEO of Star India, will take over as the head of 21st Century Fox Asia. He will also be in charge of the company's video businesses in Asia.
Fox executive chairman Lachlan Murdoch and CEO James Murdoch said together in statement on Shankar's appointment, "Uday’s new role will enhance our strategic focus across all of Asia and enable us to further capture opportunities, building on the transformation Star India has driven in our most important growth market."

A former political journalist, Shankar was the editor and news director at the TV Today Group, launching the news channels Aaj Tak in 2000 and Headlines Today in 2003. He has been with Star India for a decade, since October 2007 and is the current chairman of the FICCI Media & Entertainment Committee.
