Actor Rajkummar Rao is out to prove that he can deliver great acting regardless of the cinema genre. After his success with Newton and Bareilly Ki Barfi this year, the actor has now signed on to a horror comedy by director Amar Kaushik.

Rajkummar confirmed his part in the venture with a tweet saying, 'Super excited to be part of out-of-the-box, raucous horror-comedy! With the super amazing @ShraddhaKapoor. Collaborating with my awesome producer #Dinoo @MaddockFilms, the coolest & quirky duo Raj & DK @krishdk & national award-winning @amarkaushik. Can’t wait to begin.'

The actor has tasted success with films like Bareilly Ki Barfi, Newton and Trapped being well received by the audience in 2017. The success of Bareilly Ki Barfi has elevated Rajkummar to the position of a successful commercial actor.

Reports suggest that Vijan's Maddock Films have roped in A Gentleman directors, Raj & Krishna DK, to helm the film, which will also star Kapoor. The story is written by Amar Kaushik, who won the National Award for his short film, Aaba (2017).

Kapoor, meanwhile, is set to play Saina Nehwal in the biopic on the ace badminton player directed by Amole Gupte. The actress is also expected to be a part of Saaho, starring Prabhas.

This is not Rajkummar's first experiment in the year. The actor was part of the Hansal Mehta produced Bose: Dead/Alive, a webseries, that opened to great success. The actor's recent variation in roles and characters suggest that the National Award winner is in search of a challenge.
