Even as producer Cheran, along with his supporters staged a sit-in protest at the Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC) office in Anna Salai in Chennai demanding the resignation of the Council's president, Vishal Krishna, the returning officer of the RK Nagar by-poll Veluchamy announced that Vishal's nomination had been rejected.
Two signatures in the actor's nomination papers were found to be forged.
As soon as the news broke out, Vishal staged a dharna with his supporters. Later, on requests by senior police officials, he withdrew from the dharna and met the returning officer to plead his case.
Vishal has claimed that the two men whose signatures are said to have been forged were being threatened against supporting him. He further said that he is in possession of videos of the two persons being threatened.
Meanwhile, as Vishal's nomination stands rejected, Cheran has withdrawn his protest demanding Vishal's resgination from the TFPC.
