Marathi cinema does not fail in churning out commercially successful films each year. It seems like the next candidate in line is director Sanjay Jadhav’s Ye Re Ye Re Paisa.
The film has an interesting ensemble cast of Umesh Kamat, Tejaswini Pandit, Siddharth Jadhav and Sanjay Narvekar. They are from ordinary middle-class background and aim for making it big one day. Going by the trailer, the story follows the trail of the four characters in desperate search of Rs10 crore, just before prime minister Narendra Modi's announcement of demonitization.
The trailer is full of humor and fun and one could expect the film to be an out-and-out entertainer. The very start where Modi announces demonetization sets the right mood.
But one is unable to make out the basic storyline. We can hope and assume that the makers have intentionally hidden it.
Narvekar, famously known as the Dedh Footiya of Vaastav: The Reality (1999), is appearing in a mainstream Marathi film after a long time.
The film also stars Mrinal Kulkarni, who comes in only at the end of the trailer.
Ye Re Ye Re Paisa is all set to be released on 5 January 2018. It will be the first Marathi release of the new year.
