There is no truth in media reports that Southern superstar Rajinikanth will be singing at AR Rahman's concert in New Delhi on 23 December.
Well-known actress Madhuvanthi Arun, who is the promoter of the concert, confirmed this information to Cinestaan.com.
Speaking exclusively to Cinestaan.com, actress Madhuvanthi Arun, daughter of veteran actor and playwright YG Mahendra and promoter of the Delhi event, said, "The event on 23 December at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex will mark the final phase of Encore – The Concert. As part of the tour, Rahmanji has already performed in three cities — Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The fourth concert is to be held in Delhi."
Encore – The Concert is being held to mark the completion of 25 years of Rahman in the film industry and to celebrate the wonderful music the gifted composer has produced over the years.
Madhuvanthi, who said she was responsible only for managing the Delhi phase of the tour, said Rahman was performing the concert in the national capital as a felicitation and tribute to her grandfather, YG Parthasarathy, who was also the founder of PSBB Schools. Interestingly, this year marks the 100th birth anniversary of the veteran playwright.
When it was pointed out that a section of the media was reporting that superstar Rajinikanth would be participating in the Delhi concert and, what's more, singing on stage with Rahman, Madhuvanthi said, "Rajini uncle might be coming to the event, but we do not have confirmation on that yet. However, I can tell you that he will not be singing as is being reported. I do not know from where this has come up."
