Mukkabaaz song 'Paintra' has the right moves to get you grooving

The first song of Anurag Kashyap's Mukkabaaz is an introduction to the moves that the film's underdog boxer needs to make it in life.

The first song for Anurag Kashyap's Mukkabaaz is out, and it certainly has the punch to make a mark.

Sung by Divine and composed by Nucleya, the song is an introduction to the various complexities that build the pressure on Kashyap's underdog hero.

The film, which was premiered at the MAMI film festival in October, revolves around the struggles of a boxer hailing from a lower caste who falls in love with an upper-caste young woman. Caste politics forms the undertone of Kashyap's film, and the song, 'Paintra'.

Sung by the rapper Divine and composed by Nucleya, the song is a fast-paced, energetic track that rips through the hooked and crooked ways that are required to overcome an unjust system as Shravan (Vineet Kumar Singh) learns the hard way that he will need to always be on guard to overcome the roadblocks Bhagwan Das Mishra (Jimmy Shergill) places in his path.

While the visuals offer views of a small-town society, the sounds of Nucleya's composition capture the new anger and urgency existing in that world. The rapidfire vocals of Divine and the lyrics by Vineet Kumar Singh only enhance this bristling anger.

Mukkabaaz is produced by Aanand L Rai and directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film is set to be released on 12 January 2018.
