Watch: AB de Villiers's special greeting for newlyweds Virat and Anushka

He is a fierce competitor on the field, but off it Virat Kohli has forged friendships with some the biggest names in world cricket. He shares great camaraderie with his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate AB de Villiers, for instance. De Villiers has now posted a video message congratulating Kohli, who got married to actress Anushka Sharma on 11 December in Italy. 

"Congratulations to Virat and Anushka for getting married. It took me by surprise, but I always knew you had a surprise up your sleeve. I know you guys are going to have a very happy life together and hopefully many kids to come,” de Villiers said. 

Kohli and Sharma are currently on their honeymoon. They will be returning to India soon, as the couple will be hosting two wedding receptions, first in New Delhi on 21 December and five days later in Mumbai.

One can safely assume that Kohli has invited his South African friend, but it will be interesting to see whether de Villiers makes the trip. South Africa host India for a three-Test, six-ODI and three-Twenty20-match series starting 5 January.
