The award winning producers of Fandry (2014) and Half Ticket (2016) have now joined hands to produce the Dyanesh Zoting's unique, Raakshas. The Marathi film, starring Sharad Kelkar and Sai Tamhankar, will be released on 23 February next year.

The poster for the film captures an apprehensive looking Tamhankar protecting her little child while being enveloped by a burrow that looks straight out of a Grimms' fairy tale. The film, touted as a one-of-a-kind feature, is inspired by the director's childhood visit to a tribal area.

The film also marks the union of two acclaimed and popular production banners, Samit Kakkad Films with Holy Basil Productions and Navalakha Arts.

Speaking of Zoting's film, Kakkad said, "Vivek, Nilesh and me have been talking about collaborating on something exciting for a long time. Raakshas for me is the perfect film to begin a new collaborative relationship. I am positive that the audiences will love this film as much as I have."

Vivek Kajaria, of Holy Basil Productions added, "Raakshas has been a film that we all have given our hearts to, be it Dyanesh who has spent close to a year developing the film at various script labs or Sharad and Sai who have worked so hard to do justice to their characters, or Andrew who recorded live music, both tribal and western. Both of us are very proud of this film and we hope that the audience will also love this film, especially because it is something new in Marathi cinema."

Raakshas will also star Rutuja Deshpande, Dayashankar Pandey, Vijay Maurya, Yukub Saeed, among others in pivotal roles.
