Parvathy sticks to her stand of ‘misogynistic’ Mammootty film

Malayalam actress Parvathy was attacked online for calling out misogyny as she criticised a superstar Mammootty film, Kasaba (2016).

Speaking at the Women in Cinema Collective session at the ongoing International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), Parvathy had said, "I had watched a film recently, to my bad luck. With all respect to the makers, the film disappointed me, as it featured a great actor spitting totally misogynistic dialogues. A lot of people feel cinema reflects life and society, so when a superstar mouths such a dialogue, people might think it's sexy and cool.” Parvathy was one of the panellists at the session.

While she didn't name any actor, the Take Off (2016) actress was critical of the film Kasaba. However, the Malayalam superstar’s fans didn’t take her opinion kindly. Some unruly troll labelled the actress a 'cheap feminist'.

The actor didn't cow down and stuck to her stand saying that cinema cannot glorify violence.

Directed by Nithin Renji Panicker, Kasaba (2016) is a Malayalam black crime comedy with Mammootty playing the role of a cop.
