Vikram Bhatt is back with a horror flick. After directing the first film in the franchise, 1920 (2008), Bhatt returns as director with the fourth film, 1921. The first three films were set in 1920, while the fourth film is set a year later. The film has TV heartthrob Karan Kundra and Zareen Khan in the lead. The makers released the trailer today (11 December).
Ayush (Kundra) travels to England in 1921 to learn music, but he accidentally unleashes a spirit (or should we say spirits?). Ayush seeks the help of Rose (Khan), an exorcist, who he hopes will bring him out of the grave situation.
There are few producers in the horror genre that create out-of-the-box tales which send shivers down the spine. Going by the trailer, 1921 appears to have plenty spooky moments. The trailer scores for its thrills, which builds an intrigue factor around the film.
Khan and Kundra are not naturally gifted actors, and the fate of the film will purely hinge on the their performances.
Barring Bhatt, there are hardly any filmmakers who invest in the horror genre. This often draws in the audiences to his films.
1921 has its task cut out as it will compete with Saif Ali Khan’s Kaalakaandi and Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz. All three films are set to be released on 12 January.
