The last month of 2017 kicks off Dharma Productions' latest film, Dhadak (2018), starring Ishaan Khattar and Janhvi Kapoor. Karan Johar shared a photo of the film's leads with the clapboard announcing the first shot. The shoot begins today in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Kapoor's parents, actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, and Ishaan's mother, actress-dancer Neelima Azim are due to be present on set. The film is supposed to be shot at different locations in Rajasthan.

Director Shadhank Khaitan told the tabloid Mumbai Mirror, "It won't be a long shoot; we are wrapping up by March for a July release next year, but the prep for the film had started in May. When you take up the responsibility to adapt a film like Sairat by putting it in a different region, you want to be well-prepared and not be complacent about prep. It is the most crucial part of all my films. We have tried to be as authentic as possible with Janhvi and Ishaan's characters."

Dhadak will be Janhvi's first film while Ishaan has already appeared in Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds (2017). Khaitan has previously directed two movies for Dharma Productions, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2013) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).

Dhadak is due to be released on 6 July 2018.
