CBFC asks for few verbal cuts in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked the makers of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha to make a few verbal cuts in the film. Some reports stated there were eight objectionable words.

Talking about it director Shree Narayan Singh said, “There were just 2-3 words which they had asked us to mute. There is an intense scene where we have used the word haraami (bastard).  They just wanted to dilute it a bit. While they understood the context in which such words were used, they didn’t want us to over use it. So, if a particular word was used four times, they asked us to use it just once. We changed haraami to kamina (rascals)."

The director also revealed that the CBFC had objections to the use of the word anda (egg) in the film. “There was another word, anda (egg) where a character says ‘abhi pooja karke anda kha raha hoon. We muted the word. Muting or changing a word doesn’t affect our story telling,” the director added.

Prime minister Narendra Modi have previously lauded the Akshay Kumar starrer for spreading the message of a cleaner India through the film.

CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani too was all praises about the film's trailer and even expressed his wish that the film be made tax free.

Toilet: EK Prem Katha is set to be released on 11 August.
