Fukrey was a surprise success of 2013. Boasting of not having a single big star, the film, directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, worked due to its entertaining and quirky content. Now, the first teaser of its sequel Fukrey Returns is out and it conveniently increases our anticipation for the film.
The cast including Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal, Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh, Richa Chadha, Vishakha Singh, Priya Anand and Pankaj Tripathi return in the sequel.
Going by the teaser, the film is an actual sequel which takes the story of Fukrey forward. At the end of the first film, Chadha's character goes to jail. The sequel sees an angry Bholi out of jail, teaching the four friends a lesson for double crossing her.
The teaser starts in the most unusual manner by highlighting how various predictions by Nostradamus, Baba Vanga and Octopus Paul turned out to be true. But we are told that there is someone who is better than the three. Of course, it’s Choocha (Varun Sharma). In the first film, he used to dream about a lottery number. But here, he claims to clearly see the future. He calls it Deja Choo. It is also interesting to see him wearing the t-shirt with the face of North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un.
There is also a portion that treads into the Priyadarshan arena. The first film was devoid of such a brand of humour.
Fukrey Returns is will be released on 8 December.
