Kajol's return to Tamil cinema in Velai Illa Pattadhaari 2 ran into some trouble with its release date a couple of weeks earlier. After a postponement, the makers of the film, Wunderbar Films, announced that the Dhanush-Kajol-starrer will be released on 11 August. Now, the makers have announced a release date for the Hindi version of the film as 18 August.
The film was initially scheduled to be released on 28 July, on the occasion of actor Dhanush's birthday, but was postponed due to 'inevitable reasons'.
Now, the makers have announced the release date of the Tamil version to be 11 August, while its Hindi version, VIP 2 Lalkar, will be released on 18 August.
Producer Kalaipulli S Thanu said, "VIP 2 has been an interesting and a memorable journey. I'm proud to release the movie starring Kajol and Dhanush. I'm sure their fans will love the film and VIP 2 will be the biggest hit in 2017 in all over India (sic)."
The film, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, will see Kajol face off with Dhanush in the sequel to the hit film, Velai Illa Pattathari (2014). The sequel marks Kajol's return to Tamil cinema after a hiatus of 20 years.
VIP 2 is co-produced by V Creations and Wunderbar Films and will be released by PVR Pictures across the north Indian market on 18 August.
