Jab Harry Met Sejal crosses Rs50 crore nett on first Monday

Shah Rukh Khan's rom-com faces a tough task at the box office as its Monday collections dropped by 50%.

A collection of Rs50 crore in four days is not bad, nor is it impressive if it’s a big budget Shah Rukh Khan film. King Khan and Anushka Sharma’s latest release Jab Harry Met Sejal continued to register unimpressive numbers at the box office.

The film, directed by Imtiaz Ali, bagged Rs6.74 crore nett on its first Monday, taking its four-day total to Rs50.75 crore nett, as reported by BoxOffcieIndia.com.

The film had earned a decent Rs15 crore nett on its opening day, 4 August, before dropping marginally over the weekend, bagging Rs14.25 and Rs14.75 crore nett on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The Monday collections have dropped by over 50% vis-a-vis the collections on Sunday.

Made at an estimated budget of Rs80 crore, and supposedly sold to distributors NH Studios for Rs130 crore (approximately), Jab Harry Met Sejal faces an uphill task of touching the Rs100 crore figure in the domestic market.

The film had bagged $7 million (approximately Rs46 crore at the current exchange rate) in the overseas markets in its opening weekend.

Khan and Co will hope that the numbers improve on Tuesday and Wednesday, which is when exhibitors offer discounted prices to attract movie-goers.

Come Friday(11 August), Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha will hit the cinemas, thereby making things tougher for Jab Harry Met Sejal at the box office.
