Ranveer Singh yet to shoot major part of his role in Padmavati

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has faced opposition from fringe groups who disrupted the shoot in Rajasthan and forced the sets to be shifted to Mumbai and its outskirts. The makers are being careful this time, keeping the shooting schedules a secret.

Ranveer Singh though cleared some mist when he recently appeared on Neha Dhupia’s audio podcast #NoFilterNeha. According to the actor, he is yet to shoot major portions of his role in the film. “I have shot a few portion but a major chunks of my part is yet to be shot,” he said.

Singh also spoke about the time it takes to get ready for the part, each day of the shoot. “I usually just take about 45 minutes to get ready. At the worst I take about one hour. I usually am in the groove of a particular role. But for this one, I really had to work on my look. I think it took about two hours to get into the look of Alauddin Khilji, the bad man,” Singh said.

During the casual chat the actor spoke of taking up challenging roles. When Dhupia asked if would ever kiss a man on screen, the young actor confessed that he would be uncomfortable, however, if the script is valuable, he might consider, “This is a little bit of stretch for me. It’s not natural for me to do something like this because I’m straight. The script though has got to be worth it. As an actor, I’ll be happy to do it but the script has really got to hold the value for me,” Singh said.

The actor confessed to being a brat in his adolescent years. One of his games would be scaring the auto rickshaw and cab drivers. “We used to scare the s**t out of these autowallahs who were asleep in their vehicles. They would be so petrified thinking they've been woken by some ghosts.  We used to have a great laugh and quickly flee away like hyenas,” said Singh. 

However, there came a day when he had to pay a huge price for his prank. “Unfortunately, one such incident left me with a disfigured face. I ran into a cab driver who had fists like sledge hammers. He broke my nose, teeth. It was very pretty mean. It was pretty mean on our part to do something like this. Now when I look back, I don’t think I should have done it,” he said.

Padmavati is set to be released on 17 November.
