Actor Aamir Khan, and wife, director Kiran Rao, are the latest members of the Hindi film industry to be affected by the H1N1 virus, commonly known as swine flu. The couple were scheduled to speak at the Satyameva Jayate water cup event, organised by their NGO, Paani. However, they only made an appearance through a video conference, and explained the nature of their illness.

Speaking at the event, Aamir said, "It is a very happy day for us, but we are upset that after putting in efforts for one year, we could not be there to celebrate the day with you. We have been detected with H1N1 virus. It is known as swine flu commonly. It spreads easily and therefore we have to remain in isolation for a week."

Instead of Aamir, actor Shah Rukh Khan attended the event.

The swine flu disease has been on spreading across the state of Maharashtra with almost 3,500 people falling prey to the virus. The death toll from the disease has already touched 366.

The couple is currently being treated at home, in quarantine, to ensure that the disease does not spread any further.

A week ago, actor Richa Chadha took ill due to the swine flu, and was bed ridden.
