Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal had a decent opening day at the box office. The Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer has managed to earn Rs15.50 crore approximately, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The urban subject of the film has ensured that a large chunk of numbers have come from the metros of India like, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangaluru and Pune.
The first day collection of Jab Harry Met Sejal is lower than Shah Rukh’s last film, Raees, which had an opening of little over Rs20 crore. This was despite the fact that the film was clashing with the Hrithik Roshan starrer, Kaabil.
But Raees had more commercial factors and mass appeal. That isn’t the case with JHMS. Even the reviews of the film and word-of-mouth haven’t been positive. So, it will be interesting to see whether the film takes a big jump over the weekend.
The film has been reportedly made at a budget of Rs85-90 crore approximately. Hence, it is imperative for it to see a jump in collections over the weekend if it wants to be a safe bet for the producers.
