Even before their first venture together, Bhoomi, hit the theatres (22 September), director Omung Kumar and actor Sanjay Dutt have announced their next film together — The Good Maharaja. The poster of the new film was released too.

The Good Maharaja is an Indo-Polish venture and is based on Maharaja Jam Saheb Sri Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja’s efforts to help Polish refugees during World War II.

Reportedly, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker has also acquired the rights from the royal family in Jamnagar for the same story.

Maharaja Digvijaysinhji was born on 18 September, 1895, and was commissioned as the second lieutenant in the British army in 1919. After the demise of his uncle, Maharaja K S Ranjitsinji, he became Maharaja Jam Sahib in 1933 and ruled for 33 years. He passed away on 3 February, 1966 in Bombay. The Maharaja saved the lives of 640 Polish children and women during the World War II.

The poster of The Good Maharaja shows Dutt dressed in the royal attire of a Maharaja. He is wearing the badges, along with necklaces and turban, decked with jewels. One can also see countless refugees, Indian and Polish flags in the background.

The makers haven’t revealed the release date of The Good Maharaja yet.
