Sunny Deol is set to join the Singham franchise after producer Jayantilal Gada signed him on for the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Si3.
Gada has obtained the Hindi remake rights to Si3, the third film in the Singam franchise, and roped in Sunny Deol for the film.
The first two Hindi remakes of the Singam series films — Singham (2011) and Singham Returns (2014) — featured Ajay Devgn in the title role with Rohit Shetty in the director's chair.
A report in the newspaper DNA said that before signing the film Deol called Devgn and assured him that he would not be using the Singham title.
The paper quoted a source as saying, “Before signing the film, Sunny called Ajay and told him he is doing it. He also told Ajay he won’t use the name Singham anywhere. Ajay was cool with it.”
Jayantilal Gada had earlier told Cinestaan.com that the Si3 remake would have nothing to do with the earlier Singham films. The Si3 remake is set to be directed by cinematographer Ravi K Chandran.
