Ayushmann Khurrana has already made an impact with his roles in Vicky Donor (2012), Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), and the upcoming, Shubh Mangal Savdhan (2017). He is now ready to take a step into the dark side. The actor is training with Los Angeles based musician, Akshay Verma, on the piano to play the part for his next project.
The actor said, "I am glad that I have been able to learn a new craft. As a musician, it helped me a lot. I have been training under Akshay Verma, a Los Angeles based trained pianist. We have not used a double for the piano scenes in the film. I was training for two months regularly, four hours of practice every day."
In Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, the actor is playing a person with an erectile dysfunction. The Aanand L Rai produced romantic comedy is a remake of RS Prasanna's Tamil film, Kalyana Samayal Saadham (2013). Speaking of the film, Khurrana said, "This one is an antithesis of Vicky Donor but after the narration, I found the script to be so entertaining and unique that I instantly said yes,” he reveals, reiterating that the “taboo subject” lends immensely to the film’s uniqueness.
It is not just the actor, his wife, Tahira Kashyap, is also set to direct a short film. Khurrana said, "She has directed a short film called Toffee, which I co-produced with (casting director) Mukesh Chhabra. We’re now sending it to film festivals. She has a keen sense of scripts, storyline and screenplay and reads all my scripts."
The actor also implied that Tahira is working on scripts toture turn into a fea film director. "She keeps on writing new drafts as she is extremely critical of her work," he added.
