Priyanka Chopra to Abhishek Bachchan: Celebs ask Mumbai residents to stay safe


The city of Mumbai has been beseiged by severe rainfall and stormy winds since early Tuesday, 29 August.

The city of Mumbai is facing an onslaught of severe rains and stormy winds since early Tuesday (29 August) morning. Most parts of the city have been waterlogged, and road and train traffic has been severely affected.

This sudden deluge, with an additional high tide predicted for the evening, have put several Mumbaikars at risk. Film stars have taken to the social media asking Mumbaikars to stay off the streets.

Gul Panag put out a message on the platform using the iconic Game of Thrones line saying 'Brace yourself Mumbai. Heavy rain coming. Plan ahead. Stay safe.'

The actress continued to use Twitter to warn other followers about the warning of high tide from the metereology office.

Even actress Deepika Padukone, who was chatting with fans on Twitter, took a moment to remind her followers of the cuurent weather problems in Mumbai.

Priyanka Chopra, on a holiday in the country, put up a picture on Instagram of the raging winds outside her apartment, asking her fans to be safe.

The actress also tweeted out helpline numbers for her followers to forward to those in trouble. 

Composer Ehsaan Noorani, of the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio, took a musical turn for a change.

Filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, meanwhile, put up pictures of the struggling city under siege.

Haseena Parkar star, Siddhanth Kapoor, put up links to the database of helplines for Mumbaikars stranded on the streets across the city.

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh put up a picture of his own car making its way through the flooded streets of the city.

Actress Soha Ali Khan put up a picture of her dog, asking people to stay indoors. 

Abhishek Bachchan took on the role of the comic to remind people it is National Sports Day, and might be a good idea to try swimming.
