A Gentleman and Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, two of the five releases this week, have turned out to be box office failures. This was confirmed with their first Monday collections which are Rs1.50 crore and Rs65 lakh respectively, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
A Gentleman made only Rs12.25 crore in the first weekend. As the film is reportedly made at a cost of Rs60 crore, its fate was sealed in the first three days itself. Its current total now stands at Rs13.75 crore.
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz earned a low Rs4 crore in the first weekend. The film is reportedly made at Rs14 crore. But it has still turned out to be a loss making project since the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer’s overall total currently is only Rs4.65 crore.
The week also saw the release of films Qaidi Band, Sniff and Muskurahatein. Their Monday collections are negligible. They have been completely washed out at the box office.
Bareilly Ki Barfi, which is in its second week, earned an average Rs70 lakh on its second Monday. The film, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Rajummar Rao, has so far earned Rs24.07 crore approximately. The film is reportedly made at Rs20 crore. So it has surpassed its cost due to positive word-of-mouth.
Akshay Kumar-starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha made Rs60 lakh on its third Monday. The film, which has turned out to be a hit, has amassed Rs127.54 crore, approximately.
