Shooting of Alia Bhatt's Raazi halted amidst tension in Punjab, Haryana

Alia Bhatt’s Raazi has been caught in the storm following the conviction and arrest of controversial godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a rape case.

As a safety measure, director Meghna Gulzar and her team cancelled their shoot and stayed indoors, as reported by news website Mid-day.com.

The quantum of sentence to the controversial godman will be announced shortly, and from the time Singh was convicted, Patiala and other places in Punjab and Haryana have been on the boil as agitated supporters of Singh have gone on a rampage, damaging public property.

Mid-day.com quoted a source as saying, “They were discussing how it would be in everyone's best interests to put off the shoot till Monday. There is a possibility of things spiralling out of control after the sentencing.

Communication lines have been badly affected in the city. Cinestaan.com tried getting in touch with Gulzar and her team, but the effort was futile.

Raazi has Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead. The film is about a Kashmiri girl falling in love with a Pakistani soldier.
