India's rising badminton star PV Sindhu added another medal to her growing collection after finishing runner-up to Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in the World Badminton Championships 2017 held in Glasgow. Sindhu, making her first appearance in the World Championship, also played one of the longest matches of the championship with Okuhara.

Though her valiant effort did not get her the gold medal, Sindhu certainly had the stars of Hindi cinema standing up in appreciation. Several of them, from Amitabh Bachchan to Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter to praise the sportsperson for her efforts.

Writing on his Twitter, Bachchan said, "#Sindhu , #Pvsindhu1 .. you made India proud .. you are a Champion .. spirit, guts, endurance .. for me you won .. never gave up".

Mubarakaan actor Anil Kapoor celebrated the good weekend for Indian sports by saying 'Just as @ImRo45 marks his 12th ODI century, @Pvsindhu1 wins a silver at the #WorldBadmintonChampionships!! Good day for Indian sports!'

Actor Sonu Sood, too, praised Sindhu as a 'winner'.

Sarbjit (2016) actor Randeep Hooda refused to focus on Sindhu's loss in the final, instead saying 'No losers here'.

Ranveer Singh was taken in by the match's excitement and the tension around it.

Pink producer, Shoojit Sircar, praised both Saina Nehwal and Sindhu for their effort.

Lucknow Central's Akhtar tweeted his praise suggesting that the match was too close to call.

Incidentally, both Nehwal and Sindhu are the subjects of biopics. Actor Sood is planning a biopic on Sindhu and has reportedly said, "I would love to see Deepika playing character of Sindhu in my film. She is a fine actress. We are still in the scripting stage. If the part is offered to her and she likes the script and director, and has the time for it, she will surely give her nod."

While Amole Gupte has already signed on Shraddha Kapoor for a biopic on Nehwal. The actress has already taken up training in the sport, with suggestions from Nehwal herself.

It looks like there are new heroes rising in the industry.
