Suhasini Maniratnam, wife of director Mani Ratnam, found out the true reach of Twitter when she tried to help her son who was stranded in Italy. Her son, Nandan, was robbed of his belongings in Italy's Belluno town, while on a holiday.
Interestingly, Suhasini turned to Twitter to source out help for her son.
Writing on her Twitter feed, she uploaded her son's mobile number to get people to contact him and help him get in touch with the right people.

While Mani Ratnam remains off Twitter or any other form of social media, Suhasini has been using it to some effect. An active voice for women's empowerment and cinema, the actress-director has proved that the social media platform can be quite useful if used the right way.
