Filmmaker-producer Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has issued a statement saying that there is no truth to reports about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being upset over R Madhavan being cast opposite her in the film, Fanney Khan.
Pinkvilla, an entertainment website, had reported yesterday that Aishwarya was uspet with Madhavan being opposite her in the upcoming comedy film, Fanney Khan. As per the report, the choice was down to two actors — Madhavan and Rajkummar Rao. Aishwarya was said to be keen on the latter, but Mehra chose Madhavan. Mehra is producing Fanney Khan.
Rubbishing the report, Mehra issued a statement saying: “It is quite unfortunate that such false and baseless stories are created to grab attention. There is zero truth to that, we are all a team and Fanney Khan is a dear project to the whole team.”
Fanney Khan stars Aishwarya, Anil Kapoor and now Madhavan has joined the cast. Though not confirmed yet, the film is said to be a remake of Oscar-nominated Dutch film Everybody's Famous! (2000). Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat is said to be playing Kapoor’s daughter in the film,
Madhavan had a played supporting role in the Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan-starrer Guru (2007).
Fanney Khan is directed by Atul Manjrekar, who had assisted Mehra in Aks (2001).
