Imprison a man, but you can't shackle his spirit that longs for his beloved even if he is languishing in jail. To show this emotion, the makers of Lucknow Central unveiled a poetic and romantic number 'Rangdaari'.
Penned by Kumaar, 'Rangdaari' fill yours heart with colours of joy and love.
Kishan (Farhan Akhtar) has lost his heart to Gayatri (Diana Penty), who is perhaps trying to get Kishan out of jail. You can just shut your eyes, and get totally lost in the soulful lyrics. Left distraught by the injustice meted out to him, Kishan has lost all hope but it is Gayatri who makes Kishan dream again. Perhaps Kishan and Gayatri’s love story blossomed even before the man was jailed.
Great lyrics is a job half done, while Arjuna Harjai has penned an equally delightful, soothing score for 'Rangdaari'.
Fine lyrics, music and Arijit Singh can add magic to a track. Singh is a bit flat in the opening lines, but simply comes into his own when he sings, 'Tu lage mujhe dushman si, kabhi lagi dhadkan se, judi judi baatein hain, tutey hue mann ki'.
Singh’s greatest talent is not necessarily his voice, but how he picks the emotions in the lyrics. 'Rangdaari' is another memorable number in his long list of romantic songs.
The visuals are pretty understated and you don’t expect an inmate to be dancing around trees. Some things are best expressed without saying too much. Akhtar’s eyes display the requisite understated emotions.
Watch the delightful romantic number below. Lucknow Central is set to be released on 15 September.
