Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are close to each other personally, yet the box office numbers of their respective films are closely scrutinised and compared by fans and the media. Hence, needless to say, they are considered rivals at the box office.

But filmmaker Kabir Khan believes that such a comparison is uncalled for and the two stars don’t look at each other’s box office numbers. Talking to an agency, he said, “I don’t think Salman is looking at what numbers Shah Rukh Khan’s film did and vice versa. They all are superstars in their own space.”

The filmmaker also said, "I think it’s a race created by the media. It’s fun to read. I don’t think it exits in reality,” he added.

Both Salman and Shah Rukh have recently had flops in Tubelight (which was directed by Kabir) and Jab Harry Met Sejal (directed by Imtiaz Ali), respectively. But Kabir believes that shouldn’t be a reason to worry for them. “Some films may work sometimes and sometimes some films don’t. But they are all huge stars,” he said.

Shah Rukh played a cameo in Salman’s Tubelight. To return the favour, Salman will make a guest appearance in Shah Rukh’s upcoming film with Aanand L Rai, which is not titled yet.
