Aamir Khan is known as the 'Mr Perfectionist' of Hindi cinema. But he took this tag to another level during the casting of his next production, Secret Superstar. The actor gave a screen-test for the role despite him being the producer. He shared this during the trailer launch of the film, which is directed by his manager Advait Chandan.
He plays the unusual character of Shakti Kumar, who is a music icon. Revealing how it all happened, Aamir said, “Advait suggested once that I should play that role. I said that I can’t see myself in this role. I eventually decided to do a screen-test. I decided that if I do well in the screen-test, I will do the role.”
Advait interrupted saying, “Can you believe I was taking Aamir’s screen test in my very first film?”
The decision turned out to be fruitful. “Even while giving the screen-test, I felt I am enjoying it. It was very unusual for me to play the role. The character is way different than me,” added Aamir.
But his wife Kiran Rao was strictly against him playing the role. “I was one of those who advised him not to do this role. He is a kind of a creepy character. The kind of a guy you really don’t want to hang out with alone in a room. So, I told him please don’t play it. It looks weird that you just played a father in Dangal and now you are going to do this peculiar (character),” she said.
She was convinced later though. “We laughed so much after watching the screen-test. We were convinced that he can be this strange, creepy person also,” she added.
Secret Superstar is all set to be released during the Diwali period this year on 20 October.
