Director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s Bareilly Ki Barfi had a low opening yesterday, 18 August. The Kriti Sanon, Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer managed to earn only Rs2.25 crore nett, approximately, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The film is set in the town of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. But, unfortunately, its collections in the state to are said to be low.
Bareilly Ki Barfi is reportedly made at a cost of Rs20 crore. Although this number isn’t high, it is certainly not low considering the lack of a big name in the cast. Hence, the film needs a good amount of jump today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday).
Fortunately for the film, it has been receiving positive word-of-mouth and reviews. So, the task doesn't seem to be impossible.
Gurinder Chadha’s Partition: 1947, which also released yesterday, has been a complete washout at the ticket window.
Annabelle Creation, the Hollywood movie of the week, turned out to be a pleasant surprise as it earned Rs4.50 crore nett in India. Directed by David F Sandberg, the super natural horror film is a prequel to Anabelle (2014) and the fourth film in the Conjuring series.
Akshay Kumar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, which released last week, saw a drop in collections on the first day of its second week. The film managed to make only Rs3.75 crore yesterday. Although the number isn’t that bad for day eight, such a fall wasn’t expected. Its total stands at approximately Rs97.75 crore nett. Due to the good amount of buzz and Akshay’s popularity, the film is expected to earn decently in the second weekend too.
The second week total of Jab Harry Met Sejal is Rs4.25 crore, its total now stands close to Rs62 crore nett. Mubarakan, which just completed its third week, during which it earned Rs 5.50 crore, has made Rs53.54 crore nett in total. Its collections were helped by the audience's disapproval of Jab Harry Met Sejal.
