Rajkummar Rao is on a roll. The actor, whose Bareilly Ki Barfi hits the theatres today, 18 August, already has another trailer releasing.
The first trailer of the Hansal Mehta and Ekta Kapoor produced web series, Bose Dead/Alive is out and the actor is be seen playing the mysterious revolutionary, Subhash Chandra Bose.
The teaser for the series was launched on the eve of India's independence day with the actor emerging from the darkness as Bose. However, the trailer captures many interesting details of this wonderful series.
The trailer begins with the mysterious announcement that Bose is still alive. This remains a constant theme through the trailer which reportedly focusses on the rise of Subhash Chandra Bose, and his mysterious dissappearance in Rangoon.
From the first moment of his appearance to the last, the trailer has Rajkummar Rao at his best. The transformation in his personality is not just physical, but rather more internal. His straight gaze, back talk, shows a very different character to the mellow one he has played in films like Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) and Behen Hogi Teri (2017).
At one point the snazzy trailer cuts to a British officer berating Rao's Bose for holding a rally with 2000 people, only for Bose to reply 'Because it is my country.'
From a rebellious student leader to the disguised Bose travelling through Afghanistan to Germany, the series will track the various incidents in the late revolutionary's life, including the mystery surrounding his death.
Directed by Pulkit, written by Reshu Nath, with Hansal Mehta as creative producer, the web series will be released on the digital platform of Balaji productions, Alt Balaji.
Speaking about the series, producer Hansal Mehta had said, "The show is not another boring biography. It is the unveiling of India’s biggest cover up. It is a fast-paced, gripping tale on a man whose trajectory is one of the most fascinating stories ever."
With films like Trapped (2017), Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017), and the upcoming Omerta and Newton, Rao is setting new standards with his character transformation.
The series is set to be streamed on Alt Balaji soon.
