The makers of Babumoshai Bandookbaaz can now breathe easy. The Film Certification Apellate Tribunal (FCAT) has cleared co-producer Kushan Nandy's film with suggestions for eight 'voluntary minor cuts'. The decision, in the wake of Pahlaj Nihalani's removal as Central Bureau Of Film Certification (CBFC) chief, is a signal of change in the direction of the CBFC. FCAT cleared the film with just eight minor cuts.

The filmmakers had been asked to comply with as many as 48 verbal and visual cuts by the viewing committee at the CBFC. Post this decision, Nandy and the producers decided to submit the film for a separate FCAT viewing. The makers had also taken offence to certain members of the committee making a gender slur on the producer of the film, Kiran Shroff. The makers received the support of the Indian Film and Television Director's Association (IFTDA) for their stand.

Writing on his Twitter, Nandy said, "FCAT clears #BabumoshaiBandookbaaz with 8 minor, voluntary cuts. Despite #PahlajNihalani's last letter to stop it. See you on 25th August.'

Even Nawazuddin Siddiqui joined in thanking the FCAT for clearing the film.

Nandy also thanked the IFTDA and filmmakers Vikramaditya Motwane, Satish Kaushik, Abhishek Chaubey for their support for his film.

Babumoshai Bandookbaaz also stars Bidita Bag and is set to be released on 25 August.
