After reaching the Rs50-crore mark in the first three days, debutant director Shree Narayan Singh’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha earned well on its first Monday, which was a holiday in some parts if India, by making Rs12 crore.

Due to the positive word-of-mouth, the film was expected to earn big on 15 August, the Independence Day holiday. The Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer has amassed Rs19.50 crore approximately, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com

States like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Bihar generated numbers better than Sunday, when the film had earned Rs21.25 crore in the country.

The grand total for Toilet: Ek Prem Katha currently is Rs81.50 crore. The film is reportedly made at a budget of Rs40 crore. This doesn’t include Akshay’s fees as he has a share in profits. But despite his cut in the profit, the film is in a good position to get good returns.

Akshay’s Jolly LLB 2 released in February this year. The film’s lifetime collections in India closed at Rs107 crore. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is expected to cross this score, although its first day collections were lower than Jolly LLB's, which had opened at Rs12 crore.
