Jia Aur Jia: Richa Chadha, Kalki Koechlin all wit and style in quirky teaser

The actresses star as travel buddies in the film, directed by Howard Rosemeyer.

Kalki Koechlin and Richa Chadha play two women with the same name, Jia, in Howard Rosemeyer's directorial debut, Jia Aur Jia. The first teaser for the film was released today, and features the two leads displaying some wit, style, and a fair bit of sass.

The teaser depicts two strangers, with a same name, hitch up together for a journey through Europe. While one (Kalki) is extroverted, rebellious and a happy-go-lucky personality, the other (Richa Chadha) is strictly no-nonsense. This combination of extremes makes for a riveting battle of wit and sarcasm through the teaser.

From running through the fields, à la Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, to stealing food off hotels, the two bond over a list of mischiefs before an accident strikes.

While the European tour has been a long overdone cliche in Hindi cinema, this seems like an interesting little experiment from the two actresses.

Speaking about the film in a statement to the media, Richa Chadha said, "Kalki and I really enjoyed filming this in the picturesque locales of Sweden. It's a slice-of-life film about two girls on a road trip. They meet a guy in Sweden and the story takes an unexpected turn. It's massive fun."
