To be produced by T-Series, Raid is said to be based on the IT department's raids in Uttar Pradesh during the 1980's. The film will be released on 20 April, 2018.

Ajay Devgn is all set to play an Income Tax officer in director Raj Kumar Gupta’s next titled Raid.
Written by Ritesh Shah, who also wrote Pink (2016), the film is based on some high profile IT raids in Uttar Pradesh in 1980s.
Priya Gupta, President – Films, T-Series, posted a tweet confirming the development. The tweet announced the collaboration with Devgn and also the film's release date, 20 April, 2018.

Further, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the film will go on floors in September this year.

This will be Devgn's first collaboration with Gupta.
Interestingly, Devgn was one of those named in the Panama papers leak, the infamous tax evasion scandal. The actor later claimed that he had disclosed information about his off shore accounts to the IT department while filing for tax returns.
