Singer Mika Singh was slammed for his statement asking Indian and Pakistani fans to join him in the celebration of both the countries' Independence Days, as reported by Press Trust of India.

The two countries celebrate their 70th Independence Day on 14 August and 15 August, respectively. Singh is to perform at a concert celebrating Pakistan's Independence Day in Houston.

The Federation of Indian-American Association has taken strong objection to Singh's call for joint Indo-Pak celebrations and demanded that the singer cancel his appearance for the concert.

The Federation includes groups like Indo-American Association of Greater Houston, India Culture Center, India House, Gujarati Samaj of Houston, Graduate Indian Student Organisation of University of Houston and Patanjali Yogpeeth.

Jiten Agarwal, who represents India House, said: “It is so disturbing to see that Indian singer Mika Singh is performing in Houston against the wishes oAf prominent Indian-American community in Texas. We condemn any such event that hurts the sentiments of Indian American people."

Hari Dayal of Indo-American Association of Greater Houston also added, “Mika’s decision to perform for Pakistan Independence Day is no doubt deplorable and must be condemned.”
