Parmanu poster: John Abraham again takes centrestage in the nuclear drama

The makers of Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran seem to be capitalising on the Independence Day spirit by releasing yet another poster of the film on Monday, 14 August. The latest poster features the lead, John Abraham, yet again occupying centrestage on a dusty, brown Rajasthan desert.

The poster shows Abraham's nuclear scientist running towards the camera, away from the sandstorm that seems to be building in the background.

The poster does not reveal much about the story, other than the presence of the military fatigues in the background. Abraham reportedly plays a key member of the group of scientists who helped launch the successful tests.

The major revelation on Abraham's tweet is that the film is set to be released in December 2017, earlier than the speculated 2018 date the filmmakers had announced.

In a statement to the media the producers of the film, Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor of KriArj Entertainment, announced its new release date, "After Rustom, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, this film is yet another step in our journey to make good, engaging cinema that is not just entertaining but also evokes pride in our country. Despite the ambitious project, in terms of recreating India of the 90s, we are glad that we are completely on schedule for December 8th release of this edge-of-the-seat thriller.”

This would put the film in the same weekend as the comedy, Fukrey Returns.

Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran is based on India's second nuclear tests in Pokhran when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister of India.

In an earlier statement Abraham had confimed that the film is entertaining but based on a true story. In a recently released statement, he said that the film celebrates the moment India was brought on the nuclear map.

"Parmanu is an ode to the army and scientists, who although ordinary people, truly accomplished extraordinary feats in the face of adversity to ensure that India finds its due place on the world nuclear map. It is a powerful human story of ordinary citizens who changed the trajectory of the country. It is so special to me because it combines all the aspects of film making that really speak to me - a thrilling edge of the seat plotline," Abraham was quoted.

The producers also added that the film celebrates India's soldiers and scientists, “What we truly want to achieve through this film is pride for our true heroes-. Jai Jawan, Jai Vigyan! For us at KriArj, Parmanu is partly a dream and partly a need to remind the people of India of the unsung heroes behind our nuclear prowess- our army and our scientists," the statement read.

The film also stars Boman Irani, Diana Penty, in the lead roles.
